I dunno why, but I can't damn sleep last night and ended up reading endless SoPo blogs that I got a really bad migrain.

Rain

Woke up quite late.It was raining in the morning and it was heaven sleeping in the cool and damp air,Woke up at 10am,slogged through the shower for quite a long time, cloth myself in office attire and the South Korean tie my mom bought in Seoul and departed to Subang airport.

Malaysia Hospitality,MH

Arrived there at 1.30pm exaclt, as the email from MAS syas they'll have a 'Case Study' before the intyerview by 1.30pm.The HR executive came half an hour late, opened the interview room and we received the Essay Question about the viability of a silly Local restaurant which offer 100 dishes at too many branches which is suffering from poor profit growth.Duhhhh..memangla..which dumbfuck franchise offer 100 dishes!!! Look at 'Chicken Rice Shop','Laksa Shack','Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa' and 'Mee Rebus Ramli'!!....see a pattern!!? I attacked the subject subtly.

This is MH at it best

The panels of intreviewers were in a meeting so important that they made us(four interwees including me) wait until 5pm!!!!!Between that I went to their greasy cafetaria and ate Kuey Teow and a glass of extremely sweet sirap bandung and went back to the spartan interview room with posters of destinations that the poorly networked MAS is no longer serving such as New Mexico and Ipoh.. I was so bored that I napped on the sofa after failing to take interest in the financially troubled Reader's Digest magazines.

Eventually, two interwees, who has been waiting since morning as they had to sit for the IQ and aptitude test asked for their leave ane requested another alternative session. The apologetic HR executive as accommodating and gave permission.Then the two interviewers came!!!! I went in first at around 4.45pm.

MH Interview

The interviewers were a man and a lady.Both Malays, so as usual, borak je banyak after the usual 'Talk about yourself' and 'What is your weakness?'. From what i see, they were quite surprised that the 100kg Malay boy with the horribly short crew cut hair in front them could speak coherent English. ..haaha..they took some interest in me and began asking stuff about my school, my university and what I did, like I said, borak borak, I was being cautious so I brag myself on how I like trying new things, diligent, can work in unsupervised environment bla bla bla and talking about places I've been to which made me miss Australia so much..demit. The borak2 cum intreview took about 30 minutes which ended with me questioning about the positions they are offering.

Management Trainee

Apparently MAS is 'compelled' to a hiring free to employ 64 staff which will be rotated through various departments in a year and evaluated before they are permamnently attached to their repsective departments. I am also happy to hear they are also finding people for their Engineering department. So there is a chance for me to become an engineer but the management may have other things for me in store, so I my end up fucked up in Marketing or HR..but hey.at least I would be working in an industry closely related to my degree!!!!

Overall, the interview went well, but I don't know, all my interviews before this went well and the decisions are still pending. Overall, MEMC still offers the best opportinuty to be an engineer cum slave at a hideous factory, Blondal' position is largely a sales type of engineering and I am not sure where MAS will throw me in their large pool of staff of 20 000 people!!! Like I said, I will just start with Blondal first and wait for offers from MAS and MEMC.No more interviews after this..tak larat faking my smile and talking proper English!!

Getting to the job place

My designated office will be at Blondal HQ in Batu Tiga, right smack in the midde of the federal highway.

Getting there

Of course..by car!! But I dislike the idea of using the horrible car infested Federal Highway not to mention the tolls amounting to RM7 per day by taking the Sprint Highway and then DUKE or RM13 by taking PLUS and DUKE. It will cost, by my estimate,RM350 on toll and fuel(estimating I use RM200 per mont) not to mention the RM250 per month for a second hand car(my estimate using a 2nd hand Atos as bench mark). All in all transport will consume close RM600 if I include miscellanoeius such as junk food I chew while being stuck in the Federal Highway!!! And my company will only provide RM300 transportation cost!!!

I could skip the tolls and get up really early like 5am and then brave the Federal Highway saving me RM150 per month f tolls. But that leaves me with less time a internet addict human being.

LRT>>>>>KTM>>>>>Blondal

There is a Batu Tiga KTM Komuter station, but it is on the other side of the federal Highway,DAMNIT, hence I will have to cross an underpass a km away and then walk another 2km to get to Blondal!!

I have walked from Norwood to Adelaide countless if times and it takes 5o miniutes of leisurely walk to cover 4km!!!

The KJ line+KTM trip will probably consume close to 1 hour.

So in the end I will spend close to 4 hours per day walking in the sticky climate and then packed like a sardine in the short and narrow KTM and KJ line coaches.

Thank you Malaysia for having a fucked up public transport system which is basically useless once you stepped outside the LRT and KTM station!!!

Maybe I will buy a foldable bike and cycle like a clown to Blondal!!!!!!Naaahh....my ego as a Malaysia will not allow me stoop low as the Indons and Banglas..gaspp..!!!!

Car it is then......I guess...oh MEMEC..please offer that fucking training post!!!

Blondal

A company specializing in dust control equipments used in the manufacuting industry.You can see their building besides the Batu Tiga Toll, an inconspicuous building with a polar bear on its crown.It is not a big company but I am confident they ca provide me with the opprtunity to pratice my engineering skills.Plus they are Swedish, with a Swedish Ang Moh boss...their mascot os a Polar Bear..I never knew Polar Bear is Swedish...I only kniw IKEA is Swedish...after Volvo got OWNED by China...

The interview

Last Thursday. Firstly met with the senior manager I guess, an old but elegantly professional Chinese lady who studied in Sydney ages ago I guess. Naturally, I maneuvered the interview into a chat about Australia which I am sure both of us enjoyed..who doesn't love Australia after studying there? She seemed please with my control of English and praised me as a bout of fresh hair...I am not exaggerating.It was a good change from the previous interview at MEMC...especially the session with the QA engineer..

The engineer

After that I had a short meeting with one of Blondal's engineer , two of them I guess.The firstengineer was a Chinese guy called Peter. He began explaining to me about the company's operation which sells engineering solutions with regards to dust control systems at manufacturing plants. Our meeting was conducted in another lady engineer's office, she is called Nadia, UK graduate who's worked with Blondal for 6 years.We had some chat too after Peter left from which he never returned.I politely asked my leave which Nadia accepted as I didn't want my mom to wait in the car outside any longer.I was abit pessimistic to be honest.

The job offer

After I got home, Peter called the house.My mobile was on silent so I didn't notice his 5 missed calls in the past 2 hours. He was offering a position as a Project Engineer..yes..a Project Engineer!!!!..not the Sales Engineer position as advertised.I was dumbfounded.I didn't expect to be given an offer immediately.I asked Peter that I will give my decision the next day.

Sleepless night

I was not sure.My mom was also not surre.Although she's pleased with the offer. I was still interested to wait for MEMC decision after my their interview with them and I still have an interview with MAS(a second interview after their stupid IQ and aptitude test the previous week). I still wanted to explore other options.I don;t want to be stuck in a jon I don't like..yes.fucke me..I am choosy..a spoilt brat MARA student..biasa le....

Fortunately,I had a good friend wo chatted with me the whole night. He got in touch with another girl I knew from Melbourne who underwent the same experience as I did. In the end, after receiving and processing their advices, I made my decision and said Yes to Peter the next morning.

Still restless

I have stopped applying for jobs at Jobstreet and concentrate on the interviews with MEMC and MAS and the job offer from Blondal. My take is that should MEMC offer me a position, I will have to,sadly, abandon Blodal's offer as I believe MEMC offers a better engineering experience (plus a chance to go to the States for training).Most importantly, MEMC is the closest MNC company which is in par with the likes of Intel,Western Digital and big MNC firms who dragged through three three interviews.I am also curious about MAS's offer, but personally, I will stick to Blondal even if MAS offer a position.From what I understand,MAS is offering me a 'Management Trainee' position which does not seem to affiliated with engineering.Well, we will have to see.

I am living proof that engineers typically spend 6 months jobless.

Was the 6 months worth it? Of course!!!Between the 6 months I went to Australia for my graduation, swam in a tank infested with Sharks an Stingrays in the Gold Coast,went shopping in Melbourne,played WiiFit until I got bored at home and went to Universal Studios Singapore and ride two awesome roller coasters.

It was all worth it and everything falls into order if we put effort in jobseeking and present yourself well during the interviews..good shirt and pants from Marks and Spencers and a neutral and confident English accent...hahhaa...let me brag a little..I think I deserve it.

MEMC Interview

The Interview

This is probably one of the toughest interviews I have attended. Three interviewers who asked th same question but demand different answers.

But this is good. As this shows that MEMC is looking for competent people, not some half baked assholes who went overseas but could not even speak English without mumbling and stuttering.If the interview is too easy,it means your gonna work in a sweat shop.

Supervising Engineer

The first guy is the engineer in charge of the MEMC KL Silicon plant.Nice guy, must have been handsome if he was younger if he's not losing too much hair.Pretty nice and relaxing.Asked alot of questions about my Final Year Project which I bragged about in my resume. With my stupid results,I am pinning my hope on my gempaq project so hey..I deserved it. I know the answers but explaining stuff to an engineer is so damn hard as It took me awhile of babble before the guy finally said 'that's what I was looking for'.But after that it was all chat and stuff until a rather peculiar looking engineers or otaku came into his office abruptly and forced a form upon my interviewer to sign. It was a very funny moments as those two guys of different 'coolness' exchanged jokes..that small moment seem to make the journey through the morning rush hour to this spartan factory rather meaningful.

The Director

The session with him was OK. We initially had some short chat about Australia before he grilled me about what I was studying and did during my work experience stint with SAS. I never lied and did the best i can with my Engggrishhhh....explaining that I am a competent engineer with passion. But it was a tough session nontheless.

The QA Engineer

It takes another Malaysian to make you feel down. The Chinese Malaysian was rather stern and not as jolly as the previous two.While the Ang Mohs never cared to see my transcript the QA guy persued my transcript and even remerked that I was weak in Maths which I humblly accept with much humiliation. The worst session of the interviews.

Post mortem

I am sure I was prepared and know the answers to what they asked.But their question were different and quite unexpected. As a consequent, I had trouble cobbling up a straight answer and ended up giving two three answers before they were happy.This is not good. But I am still optimistic as I was really honest with my answers which I gave with much enthusiasm and I can only pray for the best. As I said before, I can just look for other jobs although I would really like to see America even if it is for training.Que sera sera I guess.

More Interviews

I am really edging closer to the 6 month limit of being unemployed. I started looking for a job actively in february so I am officially 6 months unemployed although I did work with UniKL from April to July.No worries. I have another interview with Electrolux tomorrow and some lady called me just now to call me for an interview but the line was bad and she vaguely said she'll call me again.Insya-Allah, opportunities are abundant in this short world.

According to my deteriorating Sijil Beranak, I came out from some lovely hole at 4am this morning 23 years and 40 minutes ago.So here I am 4o minutes to becoming 24..I am getting too olf for this.

I remember being depressed last year during this time because I had a supplementary exam..fuck Aircraft Design..dem useless subject.Right now I feel cam biase2 je.tak stress..hahahhaa...but I am abit stress because there is a hamster lost in my room and so far it has not gone for the pile of kuaci under the bed not to mention the third interview with a bloody US semi-con company this Wednesday...doa2 dapat..ble berlagak gi US 6 bulan..kalo tak dapat..it's another trip down jobstreet.

Whatever it is, the way I think of my age is..if I get a loan for a decent freehold 2 storey terrace house of abour RM500 000 which is typical in the Klang Valley and even Penang, it'll take me 30 years to repay it.Hmmmmm.........................by 54 then I'll own a house.....before that hutang kereta if I am unlucky ade bini dan anak!!!!! Worse if I'm gay coz metrosexual partners are ridiculously expensive because I won't be the bitch.

The author is Phillip Reeves, a steapmpunk writer. What is steampunk? To avoid brain damage from reading my inelegant long writing, I suggest you watch Steam Boy by Osamu tezuka. That is Steampunk.Lots of steam powered gadgets like airships and trains.

Picked the fourth book of te series somewhere in the middle of 2009. Amidst the assholes around me and the burden of a a final year project, I would naturally saunter among the shelves of worn books at the Adelaidde City Library seeking solace.Since I've decided that heavy themed fiction was too much for my brain at that time, I lingered at the Teen section and a small novel with a cartoonish cover attracted my attention. I knew about the series from Malaysia,probably in 2008. It was a series that probably lost to Harry Potter in some Children;s book award and the first book was Mortal Engines. What is it all about?

The Steampunk world of Municipal Darwinism

Yep.What could could more interesting to a crazy engineer student like me than mobile cities eating other for the crown of the food chain.The steampunk world of Phillipn Reevs is a post apocalypic world where as usual, the United States or the American Empire and probably China went on a nuclear duel which wiped out almost the entire world(save for Africa which emerged as the leading civilization of the post apocalyptic world) with nuclear weapons and bombs laced with SARS like vriuses probably thanks to Biotechnologists. And so, as everyone wanted, the United States was totally destroyed with only a handful of Alaskan survivors, China was also ruined save for its population in Tibet while parts of Europe were completely decimated by nukes and natural disasters such as volcanoes.

Despite being reduce to savages, the Europeans were still technologically advanced,using remnant technologies from 10 000 years ago(yes that long since WW3) such as airships which are used to safely traverse the maze of volcanoes and ravaged landscape in Europe which makes sense. Multiple civilizations flourished but were eventually decimated by natural disasters until the emegernce of the Traction civilization. London,or what's left of it, tired of being attacked by mutants and threatened by earthquakes decided to build a big engine with large wheels and put their city on it and move to safer grounds and later turned back and crushed the mutants with their big tracked wheels. Being a post apocalyptic world, resources were scarce and so London went about eating other settlements.Other surviving emerging European cities did not want to be eaten and went Traction to avoid being eaten and to escape the volcanoes,floods and earthquakes. Soon Europe became a Great Hunting Ground where cities on wheels,caterpillartracks or even ice skids go about eating each other for oil and metal.It was the age of Municipal Darwinism..whatever that means. This new era was also te death of the great African civilizations which were eventually killed off by Traction cities and towns and they eventually joined the survivors of China who did not go traction to form into a the Anti-Traction League which combined their military resources to repel the Traction cities from encroaching on their static settlements and farms.Both sides from time to time salvage some ancient technology from America or China which they will use to their advantage for their selfish needs. The Traction cities obviously learned alot of mechanical stuff while the Anti Traction league began using walking corpse powered machines to become their soldiers.

And so there it is. The world f Phillip Reeves. I don't wanna talk about the individual books but they are really good that the maker of LOTR,Peter Jackson is currently turning the first book into a movie this year.And I promise it is not rubbish like the Golden Compass(which I have also red and stopped reading it at the the third book when it began to involve homosexual angels) or even Twilight, Yes, there's romance and some hint of sex in it too...as usual...but it's OK.

Tak pandai

I am not a good blogger..so I will not continue the previous post.

I am currently addcited to SoPo blogs to boths sides of the political spectrum, therefore I am too confused to write anything about political stuff...soi will avoid anymore political commenntaries..Aku Janji.

So far so good, interviews come and Go, waiting for MEMC to announce the interview results(and the 6 months training in US) and the 2nd interview from Muhibbah engineering.

Malaysian Polticsa(Part 1)

All those years

I have been a diligent follower of Malaysian politics...which made me very interested in Malaysian hostory. Naturally as a Malay, my initial support was for the Barisan Nasional. I guess this interest blossomed particularly when I was Form 1, just after the Anwar Ibrahim saga. This rift within Malaysian poltics created a lot of international outcry which attracted my attention plus rhetoric in the largely government regulated media which tries hard to convince that Mahathir's decision was for the best. At that time, the country's economy was booming while neighbouring countries like Indonesia,Philippines and Thailand was languishing in poltical ane economic crisis.I was a core BN supporter right till Form 5.

Internet

Form 3 saw me undergoing transformation in terms of poltical understanding.Despite the peaceful Malaysian life, I was disturbed that many Malaysian posted many evil words painting Malaysian as a racist country. Hence I was aware of the Malay rights. I was not really that conscious of my 'special rights'.I went to a normal school and did not take my chance to enter MRSM or boarding schools which I didn;t realize was largely exclusively for Malays. I fell for the bait by these largely Malay bashing Chinese and It was to my understanding that the Malay rights was also unfair in terms of the university quota. I tried so hard to understand the Malays rights, which then to me was erected to address the handicapped suffered by Malays in terms education and business. However, the evil words on these forums still made a sceptic of the Malay right which to me which was making Chinese straight A students who could not speak proper Bahasa and do not even have any Malay friends roll on the floor crying for not getting their JPA scholarship overseas or and I became a self hating Malay..but not anymore.

Mahathir

I am a really big fan of Mahathir. I am perpelexed why so many hated him. I was proud of him as I was happy what he did. I am sure every child no matter Malay,Chinese and Indians are very proud of our Twin Towers,our national car,Putrajaya and modern inffrastructure that is characteristic of the Mahathir era.Unfortunately,came a time when I loathed this man particularly after Badawi took office. The BN's corruption and efficiency became more apparent, more Chinese despite their wealth made more sad noise and ghosts of huma rights violation from the Mahathir era were resurrected.Alot of reading into Malay bashing forums and portals like Negaraku,Malaysia Today and blogs which to me more relevant that the government skewed media turned me into the Mahathir hating opposition sympathizer.This is athing I am most ashamed, especially my act of questioning Mahathir who has been in politics for 40 years and ruled for 20 years. Many people make conclusions that premiers that rule more than 10 years are despots, power hungry and dictators and all those stability erected by mahathir was swept away for Chinese girievances.

Blogs

Eventually, the blogs from the BN side emerged, more sophosticated, mature and engaging than the Malay bashing blogs from the opposition. I was an intense participant in oppositon blogs, but too many Malay bashing rhetoric was putting me off. hence I began to scroll through alternative blogs.

The Malay rights

From my readings of various articles, a biography of Tun Dr Ismail and blogs ,I have a more mature understanding of our comples political landscape regarding the Malay right.\

When Malaya was going towards independence, the British Malaya Union failed because the majority of the Malay race was againts it. This was unexpected because the Malay in the British opinion was docile compared to the the rebellious Chinese and Indians. Educated Malays realize that the Malays were at an disadvantage in the Malay union and would be drowned by the Chinese and Indians who largely have better access to education and business opportunities. To paint a picture, the Malays would only undergo priamry education and the British, the racist bastard they are tried to only educate the Malays in farming and basket weaving in their secondary and tertiary education. Fortunately, the Malays are a developed society and proud, many middle class Malays of that era particlularly from the Royal families, though not as rich as the Chinese sent many of their children to good school and universities. Hence, leaders like Tunku,Dr.Ismail and Mahathir, educated and intelligent became the backbone of our independence movement and Malay rights which is the basis of our country and its constitution.

Citizenship

After many challenges, the Malays, united under UMNO made an alliance with MCA and MIC which represent the minorities. At that time, 2 million non Malays are technically not citizens of the Malay states despite have being imported by the British.There were mainly workers in the tin and rubber industry and were not meant to stay but they did and the Malays had no problems with their presence.Now, the Malays, should they be cruel had an option of exptariating these non Malays back to China,India and Ceylon as the British do not recognize them as citizens in the first place. In 1955, the Alliance under Tunku won a massve victory, riding on the votes of the Malays and many non Malays. UMNO then was powerful. It has so much power and mandate theat they could literally throw the non Malays into the sea yet they negotiated courteously with MCA and MIC.

The social contract

The Alliance then created the fundamentals of our country through its constitutiton. The Malays, as the true custodians of the land shall be given special rights in exchange for 2 million non Malays. This was a blessing in a tumultous time when almost all Western nations have policies of preventing Chinese from migrating to West even in Australia while India was udnergoing social upheaval which made unwelcoming even to Indians in Malaya. The constiturionw as forged, and Malaya was born.

13th May 1969

It was good time for Tunku who proclaimed himself as the happiest Prime Minister on Earth. Malaya was relatively peaceful and made many friends. Malaya was considererd rich..it could have 3 building in Washington as its embassy while South korea at that was at war and could afford even a building and asked Malaya through then ambassador Tun Dr Ismail to sell one of Malaya's embassy building at a cheap price.In addition, Malaya was so prosperous that Sabah,Sarawak and Singapore merged with Malaya into Malaysia willingly in 1963 and we became bigger. However, racism ad chauvinistic values crept in and challenged the Malay rights and the rebellious Singapore seceded against its will with a crying Lee Kuan Yew to prevent further discontent. Tunku was probably one of the few leader in the world willing to secede a valuable territory for the sake of a peaceful society.

However, the cold war crept into South East Asia in the form of communist insurgence which planted hatred between the Chinese and the Malays. In addition, Chinese chauvinistic value began to question the Malay rights and the Chinese in particulary became ungrateful. Despite restraint by UMNO, the Chinese chauvinists continue to taunt the Malays. UMNO was so concern about Chinese sensitivities that when Labor Party(communist infested) thugs killed an UMNO worker before 1969 elections, UMNO kept then buthery under secrecy as to prevent backlash from the Malays, Later ,3 Labor parties were seen vandalizing walls with Labor Party slurs were confronted by Malay policemen. The policemen shot one chauvinist when the Labor thugs tried to attack them..the Chinese chauvinist reaction....a full blow procession through Kuala Lumpur..which the government consented which had to go through Malay areas with the participants,mainly Chinese chauvinist and Indians who think they gain more by siding the Chinese taunting the Malays in Chinese such as 'Malay Si'(Melayu mati) while carrying communist banners with pictures of Mao Zedong who later starved 50 million Chinese to death in China. The government at that time was seen timid in the eyes of the Chinese and they took this opportunity to further the Chinese chauvinist agenda.

The Alliance performed terribly in the elections in 1969.MCA was dead and useless while Selangor and Penang fell into the opposition hands. The chauvinist Chinese, led by DAP and Gerakan, became bold and began a procession ion Kuala Lumpur to mark their victory. They brought brooms to symbolize a 'sweeping of Malay rights' and taunted the Malays. Th Chinese were also furious when MCA leader Tun Tan Siew Sin abdicated from his ministerial post and they saw this as an attempt by UMNO to reduce chinese power in the alliance although it was the minister's personal desicion which also suprised UMNO which was still willing to give ministerial post to MCA politicians despite MCA's terrible performance in the election.More reason for more Chinese chauvinist to go to the streets. The Malays meanwhie, has had enough when a Malay army officer and his wife(according to official police reports) were butchered after they came out of a cinema in the Chinese dominated area of Bukit Bintang by Chinese thugs.The Malays, who have marvellously restarining themselves had to retaliate and a mass riot broke out which decimated mainly the Chinese chauvinist who dared to challenge the Malay's patience.

Tunku was shocked while the Western media watch gleefully to write off Malaysia into the dustbin of history. The crisis was so severe that Tunku, knowing he had disappointed the nation gave full power to Razak while the enigmatic and strong Dr.Ismail was summoned from retirement to help restore peace. The parliament was dissolved and the MAGERA(national operative council) was erected to govern Malaysia which was under emergency law. The Royal Malay Regiment and the fierce Sarawak Rangers were depatched into riot areas to calm situations and the ISA was enforced to curtail more riots while a balck out was imposed on printed media to prevent the spread of rumors. The riots was quelled and confined within the Klang Valley but the even will forever affect Malaysian politics in the future. Razak could easily have become a dictator seeing that it was a trend in Thailand and Indonesia with his absolute power under MAGERAN but with wise leaders like Dr.Ismail beside him, the though never crossed his mind. With peace restored,the parliament was restored and the Alliance began establishing a majority government by courting opposition MPs to join the Alliance that eventually formed a comfortably majority government. A 20 years new economic policy was then introduced to further strengthen the Malay race in education and business to reduce the social gap between the Malays and Non Malays.As a consequent, more Malays are absorbed into the civil service and given more places in public universities through quota systems to create more middle class Malay who would eventually make them of equal standing with the other races.

Job hunting

It seem UniAde degrees are poorly recognizsed because in my interviews the interviewers do not even know that Adelaide is in Australia. Car

I deduced that public transportation is pointless when you live 15 minutes away from the city centre by car when there is no jam.I mean, it takes me about 45 minutes just to get from Dang Wangi to Wangsa Maju by Kelana Jaya Line including the time to walk, buy ticket,queue and board and then either take bus/taxi to my house.Whereas by car it's just 10-15 minutes via the AKLEH highway.

Hence I've been interested in buying a car should I secure a long term engineering job. I expect that I'd work around Klang Valley as far as Klang if I get a job ear KL..if not prolly Perak,N9,MelakanPenang and Johor.

Which Car?

I don't want big car, not in Malaysia but I'd love to have a Camry SV12 like in Adelaide but with our climate and poor maintenance culture.no way..so I am targeting a hatchback, not as small as Kelisa but something that suits my height.Since I am utterly disgusted that we pay so much for a new car, it has to be second hand and reliable.The options are

Naza Sutera 1.1-Good reviews...nice interior, high so not difficult to get in as Kelisa.But it actually looks awkward. The good plus is that the pre-owned ones are so cheap.

Inokom Atos 1.0- Plenty on the roads,better looking than the horrible Kenari but personally it looks like a granny car. I have to be choosy too in terms of looks.

Hyundai Accent-Ok,this is not a hatchback but it is inexpensive and the brand is pretty good and not so expensive. The 1.5 engine means that I could enjoy a nice drive interstate on the highways.

Proton Saga/Wira-Errrr..sorry to say this but not interested in dinosaurs.

Hyundai Getz- The pre-owned ones are pretty expensive but this is a very relible and popular car overseas even in Europe and Australia.If my pay is OK, maybe I can afford it.

New Car?

A new car is possible, but it has to be local brand and less than RM50k and have good fuel consumption.No MYvi but I am attracted to the Hyundai/Inokom i10.

I'll just have to wait and see, many factors in the decision to buy a car.But in the near future, should our half past 6 government expand the LRT which should include a larger area of the Klang Valley and the improvement of the bus service through the BET and BRT systems, I may use the car less to go to work should my workplace in KV be reachable by PT...this is a resolution I guess.

Last days in Adelaide

Went to see Queen Mary which was diputedly the largest cruise ship in the world..but following my return to Malaysia, I gained so much knowledge watching Astro and just knew that the biggest cruise ship is in the US just finished construction last year.

Makan2

It's a thing I like to do...I am very generous..tak kedekut....spendthrift..although I was labelled berkira by stingy people...when I am in a good mood...I'll go to Afghan and but a kilo or two of mutton or chicken and ask Aswad to cook for me..so I exercised my generosity one last time in Adelaide the night before I balik KL. It was OK.

I felt extremely sad when I sold the car to Penggadis tak sedar diri no.1..I never regretted buying the car and I was darn proud of owning it...travelled to the Murray River,Barossa, and Goolwa with it.

Di KL

House repainted,all rooms have aircond, new wardrobe and a new bookcase of love Malay novels courtesy to my auntie........and pool was finally fixed.alhamdulillah rezeki murah.Swam everyday.,..watched alot of Travel and Adventure and watch Al Jazeera.....so boring...so I asked my mom if I could work with her.

In addition, my mom, who shared with my aunt bought a 5 room terrace house in Shah Alam which is almost completed, Since my grandma live with us now and our condo which is nice but goddamn didn't have an elevator was proving an inconvenience to my grandma.So the plan is for me,grandma and the stupid maid to live in Shah Alam by next year and hopefully I could get a job around the Klang Valley.

UniKL part time staff

Luckily SPM was just out and my mom's dept became shorthanded, so I became a part time staff at my mom's department...my mom is a real infamous senior manager(the only female of the senior managers ) so all my mom's staff are so cautious with me....huhu...my job was doing documentation works..keying in names of students..registering straight A students who do not know how to fill in online forms......asking parents questions through the phone..often listening to them babble and giving excuses like 'saya ni cuma kerani Puan' when I don't know the answer. What I enjoy most was asking the queries from international students who drop in to inquire about UniKL courses, since my mom's staff, being the typical Malay they are speak pidgin English, they willingly give the task to me,although I don't think I speak as well as my mom,but I am a confident speaker at least.

Grad

After two weeks working at UniKL, back to Australia, after four weeks in Malaysia...I really felt like a douche ...regretted going back..I wanted to move on..but tickets and hotels were booked.

Went to Gold Coast for 3 days,went Harbor Town, Sea World where the best thing we did was snorkeling in a aquarium with real sharks(tame ones) and manta rays, the ones that killed Steve Erwin..huhu..it was magical and totally pawned all my snorkeling experience in P.Perhentian.I really recommend people go to SeaWorld to snorkel, apparently their snorkelling tank is among the best in the world.

AFter that, tigered to Adelaide, stayed at Comfort Inn, clean and tidy with shitty blonde receptionists.Adelaide was really boring....I think because I came as a tourist...it is boring, since we came during the weekends, the city was practically dead so on Saturday and Sunday we just rested at the Hotel, ate a Silk Road for dinners.

Monday, grad time, got the robes and boating hat, into Elder Hall then Bonython, listened to 'Orochimaru' theme like melodies being played in an organ, boring speeches and lining up to receive the scroll, took picures with our hats thrown into the air.....did that done that....saw many faces..some I wanted to see..some I don't.....those stuff took one whole freaking day and we were so tired and slept till 9pm after we got back to the hotel and went to a uighur restaurant at a Northern Suburb(my knowledge of Adelaide suburbs is fast dwindling)..so that's it...esok..tigered Melbourne.

Melbourne

Nothing much to say.But I was glad to come to Melbourne, such a photogenic city, my 7th visit to the city within 5 years.We spent shopping at the SoutherWharf DFO,so much cheap stuff, got two jeans and two shirts, the rest of the shopping is for my mom and lil sis. I don't know how much we spent but it included a Wii Fit Plus and the board think.We are not rich but we know how to spend to enjoy ourselves when the time and price is right.

Balik KL

23rd April, the Australian holiday ended. I studied there for four years and traveled into almost every state,Melbourne,Sydney,Tasmania,Perth,Kangaroo Island(three times!!!),Lancelin,Great Ocean Road etc. including New Zealand except NT and I did many interesting stuff.I have finished my degree and it is time to move on, fine a job, secure a loan that I will pay for the rest of my life and buy a house...I am so gonna be a home owner.

Interviews

Had three so far, Two with job agencies and one with Materialise,an unknown Belgian AUTOCAD specialist co. in Europe who claim they're the best at something in Europe, Materialise courteously rejected me the next day after the interview..huhu..but they have a small shitty office at Damansara and I am not keen in working in a rat hole(damsn my ego is big)....so now I will continue applying for dubious engineering positions on jobstreet and The Star and hope for the best...meanwhile..work at UNiKL and slow talk with students from Iran and Abuja and listen to Malay parents with children who almost fail their SPM ranting that UniKL should not allow non-Malays to enrol..sheeeeshhh

une île Kangourou Odyssey

A Kangaroo Island Island Odyssey 3rd edition

As translated from the title. The trip was between 25th-28th February and the idea was conceived and became bulletproof during the Innes trip. From initial 10 people(2 cars) that wanted to join, it eventually ended up to 5 people. With a strong conviction and planning, a holiday house and exorbitant ferry tickets were booked.

First Day

Our steed for the journey was a Hyundai Sonata, Tawakkal's. He went through alot to service and even repair the air conditioning for the trip. A fine steed indeed.

Since Tawakkal works, we had to wait for him. The plan was for him to pick up Aswad and I at Maylands and then Ikhwan and Jube'. He was late as his chatty landlord came and we departed Adelaide during rush hour, in which we spent an hour in. It was almost 5 o'clock by the time we exited the Southern Expressway and there was like 90km and a exasperatingly slow Subaru SUV in front of us, which eventually entered thee ferry forst although we queed earlier. To sum up, we were dashing like madness itself to catch the ferry and reached it 15 minuted before departure.All was well, the car was loaded, our SLRs came out of their backs, Ikhwan's insane laughter of joy echoed and the ferry set sail.

First Day:Peregrines

The Spirit of Kangaroo Island berthed at the Penneshaw port and unloading began. It was a fine afternoon and the sun was hanging low over the horizon. We boarded our steed and took the Kingscote Highway, along which we stumbled upon the I centre and took 5 Kangaroo Island booklets as souvenirs.

Our home for the trip would be Peregrines Retreat, a Holiday unit at Kingscote, the biggest town on the Island and loacted 60km from Peneshaw. The Island is big and distances between settlements stretches between 50-100km but with an almost deserted road, we reached Kinscote in 30 minutes at tawakkal's 140km/h driving skills.

After refilling fuel, we headed towards Brownlow and reached Peregrines Retreat. It was a small domicile with two rooms, a small kitchenette, an extremely small shower room and a small toilet outside. But it was cheap and so tidy, The furniture is very modern and they even provided us with DVDs. After we settled in, Aswad demonstrated his culinary skills and cooked a fantasic and satisfying dinner of Cheese pasta and a roast chicken(from Coles though) with a salad of cucumbers,onions,tomatoes and mayonnaise. Watched one DVD and then hit the sack.

Day 2

We only have one whole Day to explore the island and the island exploration began at 7am. First destination, Flinders National Park.

My dedication to photography....initated by the purchase of the Rebel..suppressed by the hectic life of a 4th Year Engineering course...has now exploded.

It all started after several outings..at which I experimented with photo editing and HDR. I knew I will not go anywhere with a kits lens.

As mentioned previously, the nnes trip was the precursor to the lens shopping spree. The telephoto lens was the first followed by the Sigma. I never regretted buying these lens.

Joined Isma trip to Victor Harbor and along the way went our own way. Borowed Alif's Sigma and had a good time trying out wide angle/landscape photography. Good training before I get mine.

West Beach

















Got the Sigma on Monday.Went to the city with it but did not take any photos..I find the city an uninteresting place to test the Sigma.

Yesterday went to West Beach with Lutfi and Tawakkal. Too lazy to bother that everyone that promised to come did not come...It was damn good day to finally use my Sigma for the first time. Sucks to stay at home when you can see the sun set over a cloudless horizon which is rare even for SA.

The Sigma did not break it promise to deliver amazing pictures and I will be looking forward to using it tomorrow at Kangroo Island and during the ferry trip.

Balik malaysia

Two weeks befire finally going home. Would have gone earlier but my family is going to Singapore in a week for some Paramore concert.Sigh..meanwhile...next week everyone will be at uni..and I'll be...dunno..doing nothing or just hang around playing with my camera.

The reasonfor the title of this entry is because I've added a new gear. This time a flash gun. The west beach yesterday demonstrated the limitation of a SLR at taking a sunset. I had to edit all of the pictures and manipuate the exposure and vibrancy before theu look nice. So decided I might as well add this crucial gear before going back to Malaysia. It will arrive in 10 days.Less I hope.Looking forward to it.

Innes National Park

It was fun and beautiful.Spent a whole proper day at the National Park. At the same time, tested Ikhwan's EFS 55-250mm lens and decided that such lens is very useful. Banked in $XXX into Ikhwan's account.

Sigma 10-20mm

Since I already have a telephoto lens, I decided to just click the buy button on ebay for a wide angle Sigma 10-20mm lens. At least when I get back to Malaysia, I can at least show off I am a good photographer with at least three lens instead of the stupid kits lens...hahahha.

After being such a complete noob in photo editing, I've began using editing photos, not Picasa but Light Room and Photomatix and the results made me think 'Why the heeeee didn't I think of that earlier'.

Balik Malaysia

I do not know when MARA will get my ticket for the 13th March. Need to get back to Malaysia to get my life back in order. It's all fun now but that won't last long when everyone starts going to uni.

Norwood

The contract in Norwood lapsed yesterday, so I cannot lepak at Norwood anymore and watch Oprah and Ellen show while folding the pamphlets. It was a cool retreat when it is really hot at Maple..hahaha.Already hauled all my stuff from the house. Will return the keys to Lutfi for Mat this Monday.

Moonta-Innes

Today will depart for Moonta, we've booked a holiday house for 2 nights. Will be tripping down the Yorke peninsular tomorrow and enjoying the whole day at Moonta on Sunday.

One the best places I've been in SA is Kangaroo island....coz I've been there twice. The amazing ferry trip is a bonus. Apparently the ferry fares is cheaper.Hmm..will this plan be bullet proof?

Yesterday

Yesterday was pamphlet folding day!!!! Being a good multitasker I folded between 12pm to 430pm until Ikhwan called me to go to the beach. What the heck. Off we go.....

Grange Beach

Nice beach. Shallow and the waterwas war. Finally got to see Arsyad frolicking....hahaha. The water was warm and the sky as any summer sky was azure blue with wisps of clouds at the horizon.

Swimming in the sea was tiring and slept at around 10pm...woke up at 130am due to the intense nigh heat(31 degrees!)..drove to Norwood and god know how I managed to deliver junk mail to 700 mailboxes in three hours. A record.

Today

Woke up at 1pm!!!! Slept at Norwood coz was too tired from the morning delivery. Went to Maple...home sweet home. Paid for the apartment at Moonta with Ikhwan's debit card. Again...I was invited to go to the beach with Amza and some of his friends.Off we go to West Beach at 6pm.Tawakkala rrived 1 hour too early...pity him.


West Beach 2nd visit

Nothing fancy.WE just hit the waves..just the three of us ..the other don't know...to shy to swim I guess.. what's the point coming to a gorgeous beach on a sunny day if you don't swim. the watre was also war. I prefer the West beach as the water is deeper than in Grange Beach which makes sense why the sailing guys launch their boats from West Beach rather than the beaches further North,

After 1 hour or so, packed up, walked along the beach to see some SA scouths beach fishing.From afar they crowding together and we thought there was either a beached whale/dolphin or they found a dead body. Nothing fancy. It was quite a nice scene seeing the small scouts persistently fishing at the teethe of the waves with their parents.

After that, went to the Adelaide Mosque, for Maghrib and off to Queenz pizza to have two family pizzas which I think were the best pizza I've ever tasted, the toppings were thick and cheesy.

And after that, went back to Maple, Tawakkal and Amza went back to their homes, a 5 minute black out occured and here I am........doing this entry..

Enough Said.

And we watched a Tamil movie yesterday night with Tawakal who came lepak with us. From the movie, I concur that Tamil people have very nice moustaches and they are impervious to beatings from many people at the same time.

Before the Tamil Movie

Why Tawakal lepak at Maple. Because we went makan2 at another Afghan shop at Prosperct at Arsyad's recommendation. Very Lawashish, but better and abit expensive, but it was good food and we enjoyed ourselves. Other than the Maplians, there was panda Aswad.

West Beach

After Prospect, we went to West Beach just before sunset. Ikhwan ,Tawakal and I bathe in the cool sea water. It was a fantastic aftrenoon as there were quite a number of people at the beach to give the beach a lively mood and we also watched the sky changes color from azure blue, gradually stained yellow, orange and red as the the the sun gradually slumbers into the horizon.It was a fantastic afternoon.Will go there again later because I want to see Arsyad frollick in the sea for the first time..damn I have strange fetish since he came back....

Just Now

In a world dominated by vampires(godsend world to Twilight freaks), a vampire, in his posh car with tinted windows and cameras so that sun fearing vampires can drive in daylight, a macho looking vampire, emerged into the daylight, wearing a cool looking sunglass..and the car's computer bleeped...

1st week February

Kindle 2

I was gonna buy it.But Whispernet is not available in Malaysia, what's whispernet? In the US, the Kindle constantly hooked to Amazon so that you can buy ebooks. Outside the US, accessing whispernet is problematic because you need a US address to buy ebooks.Amazon is so dumb, Ipad is gonna kill Kindle.

Ipod 3.1

Frustrated with the Kindle. I upgraded my Ipod Touch software and downloaded Kindle. No books I wanted and started experimenting with the Ipod Touch as a replaement for the Kindle. Using a free app, I downloaded a pirated pdf of Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve(would have bought it but no Kindle version in Amazon). Reading the pdf on the Ipod Touch was OK, eye strain is expected, you can only read for 20 minutes continuously and your eyes will ache. The small Ipod Touch screen is also not helping(now I know why they put tseroids into the Ipod to create a Ipad!! It makes sense).So far so good. Will be looking forward to buy a book from Kindle,m but for now, it's pirated novels.

Switzerland

I have been yapping about his but my bro and I plan to go to Switzerland. I have to. My passport will expire next year. The cheapest fare is on Qatar Airlines.Insya-Allah jadi.Bcause this plan is bullet proof.

Adelaide Life

Do not know what to do. Just went to the city on Wednesday to settle some uni stuff and had takoyaki at sushi train.Sigh..it's gonna be a long month. Hopefully MARA will book my ticket ASAP...

Driving

One of the greatest pleasure in Adelaide is driving. I will never enjoy driving in KL as I do in Adelaide.It's so fun that yesterday I drove to Norwood in Dr.Syahril's car just to get my blue bag just for the sake of driving....aku memang dah takde life

Master of the city

As you may know. I have a contract delivering junk things in the city, or a part of it. Very productive as I get more money from this area. I deliver in the morning and the city is as dead in the wee of the morning as any other suburbs that you'd swear everyone's dead that I sometimes like to tickle my imaginatiosn that there are zombie around the corner...hahhaha..and it dies creep me out and give goosebumps when i imagine too much. This job is annoying but I am gonna miss it....try working like this in KL and I might end up as a crippled mute beggar somewhere begging.Yes..I am very negative about Kl yet I yearn so much to go back.....more sodomy,rape and murders in the Star as usual..that's my home...raining rocks.

Gadgets of the year

The Ipad

Just knew about it 3 days ago a day before it slaunch from "The View" and "7pm project'. Everyone was talking about it. I wa sat Norwood, folding junk mail.No internet for 2 days.

The next day it hit the news.As usual, everytime you see an Apple product, you'd want it, no matter how overhyped the specifications are.

I like the Ipad,because of its looks. Functionwise, it'd be as useless as my Ipod Touch which I purely use to hear the same 20 musics over and over again. But I like the size, it'd be ideal to read a PDF file on a A4 sized tablet/slate.Why it matters to me, because i've caught the addiction of reading downloaded PDF articles and textbooks and reading them on a laptop is annoying and eye straining.

Other problems of the Ipad
-No flash
-I probably use it to check emails and browse eventually.
-Not much different from Iphone/Ipod Touch in many ways

To me, after experience with the Ipod Touch, you should keep the cameras, phones, MP3 and MP4 separately.That'w why I still stickm to my trustworthy K800, the 1000D and the Ipod Touch. I use them one at a time. Carrying them is not problem, I have pockets on my pants and I always carry a greenbag.

The Kindle

Naturally, I'd research other alternatives to the Ipad. And I fell in love with it.

Introducing the Kindle. It has been awhile for awhile but not as glamprous as any Apple products but it works well in what it does. To let people read stuff.And I like reading.

What is it? It is an ebook. A digital book. Instead of carrying books, you buy books online from Amazon. Books costing $30 can be bought at$10 at Amazon.com which is the typical cost of a book in Malaysia($10=RM30).The facts that you could carry 1500 downloaded books with the Kindle makes me drool. Not to mention the downloaded pirated textbooks and articles you can read in PDF format.

Evaluating the Kindle I decided I want and need it. I have a camera, a MP3 player,and a phone. An ebook is an excellent addition to my collection of gadgets which I eventually stop using. If I do abandon this thing, I can always pass it to my mom, provided she knows how to use it quickly enough.

Will consider options buying this next week/month while I am still in Australia. Amazon does not ship to Malaysia due to obvious reasons, as there are sharks at our postal service and immigration departments.

Not to forget...

The Google Nexus One

What about it? An HTC cellphone with touch screen carrying the Android OS by Google. To me, just another Iphone. I prefer this though over the Iphone. But the Kindle coems first coz it's cheaper than the Ipad,Iphone and Nexus One at about AUS$300 compared to the $500++ for the others.

We'll see wheter I'd buy the Kindle or not coz I am really nervous about buying stuff ising Amazon.com and having stuff shipped from the US.Plus my OZ debit card expired yesterday, may have to get anew debit card or use the Malysia credit card Mama lend me.

January 2010

End of January coming
It's been a monts or two since I officially finished my degree. What have I been doing? Mostly browsing the internet, looking for jobs. I have applied for 41 posts at jobstreet and have summoned all the 'cables' available to my mom and dad.

Summer
Summer is not that bad. There are weeks that are insanely hot follwed but moderately comfortable temperatures.

Stuff I bought
Been straining to curb my overspending but eventually i bougt a 640GB hard disk from officeworks for $129. It was a bargain and there were selling fast(Ehsan even bought one).

Where I been
Not much.The airport mostly.

Apam balik
Talking about airport, apam went back to Malaysia last week.Hilang la satu geng, although I rarely lepak with him, but not being able to see him when i need to somehow makes me lonelier.

Syuk pun balik
Not to forget, Syukri also went back a week before Apam's. I can't believe I miss him.I do....but as a friend la......he's not my type. Miss his lectures..miss his confidence..miss his taunts..miss his scraggy beard..miss his annoying morning disturbance for morning prayers.....

My very first summer

The temperature
Between 30-45 degrees. As for today, it was 44 degrees. Despite the killer heat, we still went out to Radio rental just to get out of the house which is virtually a very large oven.

As usual at Maple. Although I am still paying the rent at Norwood till February, the house has no interent which makes it unfit for habitation. I still go there to pick up the junk mail and tidy up my stuff. I feel very depressed everything I go there.It is a very nice house though.

Graduation
The university haa not finalized the exact dates. It is really annoying. I need the dates so that my mom can book the flight tickets at the right time. But Air Asia flightb has gotten more expensive that my familiy proceeded to buy the tickets.They'll arrive at 14th April, exactly on the first day of the graduation ceremonies. Pray my ceremony is after 14th April.

Video Games
There's a Wii, a PS2 and now an Xbox 360 at Maple. What more do you need? The problem is I don't play games that much and occasionally do some Wii Sports Resort. I just bought Redsteel which is a shooter game which really optimizes the functionality of the Wiimote and Nunchuks. You can use the Wiimote to shoot a gun, slice your enemies with a katana and throw hand grenades!!! Hopefully I play more games after this. Buy I died playing Redsteel in the first scenario and I lost interest already. I really sucks at games and it is really embarrassing.

Visa
Went to DIMIA twice this week checking out the Grad Visa. DIMIA has made it almost almost impossible for foreigners to apply for grad visa. The stupid requirements just put you off and jacked the initial cost of $230 to almost $700!!!. We wanted to do a grad visa but they want a good behavior letter from Malaysia and knowing bureucracy sucks in Malaysia, we had to forget it. So, we have only one option, the tourist visa.This sucks.

Job hunting
Alreadt have a Jobstreet account. Had two rejections already. At least I know employers in Malaysia do care about my applications. I am targeting for engineering jobs in KL, Penang,Perak and Negeri Sembilan.Places I am familair with. I am hoping to get a trainee engineer position ar Klang with ARA Rail which is involved in rail tranpsort in KL. As you may know, the government is expanding the LRT and KTM service and hopefully ARA Rail will get many jobs and require fresh engineering graduates like me.

Masters
I am also exploring the options of doing Masters. Already have a degree in Aerospace engineering. I don't feel satisfied with this degree. Very few employment opportunities.I know it's my fault for choosing this course but I was yiung and naive then. Throughout the four years of studying engineering at uni, I have done alot of consideration and think and have decided that I would like to be involved in the transport and logistics engineering field. My second passion after planes are trains and Malaysia is currently expanding its public transportation system espcially the KTM rail networks and the LRT in the Klang Valley. I would like to be involved in the development of rail transportation in Malaysia, I've scouted relevant courses in UniAde and UniSA and discovered UniSA offers a Masters in Transport Engineering System. I will try to apply for a MARA loand for this Masters next week. Just an effort.

New lens
I am really hopeless in photography. I need a new lens before the passion runs out, Will try to work and earn $569 to buy a Sigma 10-20mm f4 wide angle lens for my rebel.
